It is with great pleasure that I have been afforded the opportunity to be part of the innovative and passionate team that is Total Balance Clinic and welcome you on the beginning of your voyage to health.
My interest in Osteopathy began in 2008, when I began to practice tai chi and meditation regularly, to help combat my own anxiety and feeling of continuous tiredness. I met an instructor who showed me some basic tai chi postures and movements. I found that, after just 3 months of continuous daily practice, my symptoms had begun to reduce. This experience led me to want to teach others to help them also achieve a sense of wellness and vitality. However, I found that very few people were able to maintain a regular daily practice.
I studied holistic massage in Cape Town, South Africa, and realised that a massage practitioner can use the tai chi movements to help clients gain the benefits of relaxation. I set up my own massage business in Watford and developed a good client base, with excellent client satisfaction, however I wished that my clients could become self-reliant and create these benefits for themselves through exercise.
This led me to study personal training and gym instruction, which I attained in 2012 from Oaklands College, St Albans enabling me to further my understanding of exercise and how to structure a workout routine.
At this stage I realised that if I really wanted to help others, I would need to truly understand the body’s anatomy, physiology and pathology on a much deeper level than I currently had. Therefore, I began my journey at The British College of Osteopathic Medicine to undertake a 4-year Master’s degree in Osteopathy and Naturopathy, with the addition of a Diploma in Acupuncture, which has helped to broaden my understanding of the cause and psychology of pain and has given me the knowledge, confidence and skills to help others overcome their own barriers to healing.
Meditation is an important part of my daily routine to help me to connect my mind with my body, for my dissertation I researched the use of meditation as a natural means of lowering blood pressure.
I love to travel whenever possible to new cultures to experience different ways of life and meet new people.
I look forward to working with you in developing a good understanding of the human body and being part of your personal voyage to health.
